The After Scene is your curated marketplace for costumes—historical and contemporary wardrobe—genuine production pieces that deserve a second life. Our platform connects filmmakers, designers, creatives, collectors, and fashion enthusiasts who appreciate the value of items that carry stories.
We work closely with costume departments, stylists, prop teams, and production companies to keep high-quality original items from film, TV series, advertising, and social media projects in circulation. Since many productions cannot be named for data protection and contractual reasons, we cannot always disclose which project an item belongs to.
But that's precisely what makes it so appealing: film, fashion, and advertising fans can join in on our social media channels and guess where they might have seen certain outfits before—on the big screen, on TV, or in their favorite campaign.
To ensure the authenticity of the goods on offer and to build trust on both sides, sellers can only access the platform after prior verification. This ensures that only individuals from the creative industry with verifiable provenance of their items can sell – and buyers can trust in a secure, transparent marketplace. We also take care of set materials, which can be found under 'Work Materials' in the closed access area for reuse.
At The After Scene, sustainability, transparency, and creative reuse are at the heart of what we do. Whether you're looking to buy or sell, we create a place where production pieces can live on: on set, at shoots, on stage, or privately in everyday life.
Every part tells a story.
We make sure it continues.

A word from our founder, Xenia

Hi, my name is Xenia. Let me tell you my story and how The After Scene (formerly "Wrap the Scene") came about.
Overnight? Definitely not. The desire to create something that helps people may have originated five years ago, but perhaps it was ten years ago when I first got a taste of the film industry, or fourteen years ago when I started my studies. Maybe it even started over twenty years ago, when I felt a very strong urge to make films one day. Or maybe it was thirty years ago, when I wasn't even in school yet, but was allowed to watch my mom sew and saw how she presented her fashion shows.
Yes, it could go back that far. I grew up with a fashion designer as my mother—a woman full of hope, beauty, and creativity. I was allowed to watch her at work, went to fashion shows with her, and even appeared in a music video myself as a child. It's moments like these that have shaped me.
During the era of VHS and DVDs, I fell in love with films and filmmaking as a schoolgirl. At the age of 16, I started standing in front of the camera, first in photo shoots, then as an extra. So it wasn't entirely unreasonable that I dreamed of finding my way into the fashion and film industry. But I didn't want to limit myself to my own country; I wanted to be prepared for an international life. From England to Scotland to India, I was able to take in and experience so much. With the "Fashion Communication" degree program, I was able to learn everything from tailoring and styling to photography and film.
That was just the beginning. But then came the practical side of things—and with it, the realization of how much is created in this industry, but also how much is wasted. I have been working in the film industry for over ten years, and every time after a shoot, I see how costumes, furniture, props, and materials, into which so much work and passion has been poured, suddenly have no place anymore. They disappear into storage, end up with private collectors, or are thrown away. They are donated – with the idea that the main thing is that they are used – or laboriously passed on via costume groups or online shops. Without a system, aimless project management without questioning.

This idea never left me. I wanted to create an alternative. A place where costumes and props don't just disappear, but are given a second life. A space where they are not seen as "things," but as carriers of stories.
That's how "The After Scene" was born.
The idea behind it is simple but powerful: film objects remain in circulation. They can be shared, reused, and loved anew—by filmmakers, creatives, collectors, and anyone who wants to experience the magic of real film objects.
But TheAfterScene is more than just a shop. It's an attitude. With our Green Program, we relieve the burden on productions, make objects visible, and give them new stages—whether in other films, with young talent, or in the everyday lives of people who want to bring a piece of film home with them.
To be honest, "The After Scene" feels like its own film project. We've just released the first version, but we already have the next scenes planned in our heads. It won't stop at this one step. We want to grow, tell stories, learn more, and create a community that shares our passion. If you're already asking yourself, "But where are the props if we're promoting them in context?" The answer is simple: I want to give an idea of what's possible. Whether it's furniture, props, cameras, or lighting and sound equipment, wouldn't it be great to have everything in one place? But I didn't want to spend another five years tinkering with the idea. It's important to me to take action—especially now that there's so much feedback on the topic. I come from the costume industry, so everything I'm doing right now is new to me. But my motto is: Start small, but start.

Growing with the community is essential for me, just like in film: without a team, there is no project. I use your feedback to build something that can benefit us all. Ultimately, it's about more than just costumes and props. It's about sustainability, appreciation, and creativity. Above all, it's about passing on stories.
I am full of hope that this is only the beginning. A beginning that I did not master alone. Even the beginning requires a whole village, or team, and I am very grateful that my team is full of people who believe in the idea just as much as I do and who support me with advice and action. Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far and accompanied me on my journey, either with their thoughts or their work. My heartfelt thanks go to Christina, Mario, Dominique, Flo, Gustav, Fabian, Kevin, Jacky, Richard, Martin, Jenny, Liene, Annett, Jasmin, Sophia, Elsa, Dustin, Tom, Alexander, Tina, Laura, Katia, Sabrina, Katharina, Stefan, Isabella, Michel, Katia, Valentina, Tsändi, Stefanie, Sed, Ms. Steinhöfel, Felix, Daniela, Anja, and everyone who accompanies me in my everyday life.
